After several phone calls while napping yesterday, it was worked out that I got a free ticket to go see Hank Williams, Jr. and Shenandoah out at the Zoo Ampitheatre. Now, following my free beer theory, you don't complain about what you are getting for free, you just take it and enjoy the fact you didn't have to pay for it and might have some fun - which I did. I surprisingly knew many more songs from both of them than I expected - I guess all that country music listening, Rockies and roper wearing in college was good for something after all. ;)
I went with some DUI lawyers that I know, who had some matches to give out to the drunks to call them later. Some people were so glad to get them that they were holding up their two fisted drinks and yelling that they were definitely going to be calling them later. heh
I hate beer, but, there is just something about a mullet fest that just compels you to drink it anyway. It had it all - beer, skanks, overalls, and fights. What more could a girl ask for?
You know the little unexpected niceities that make the last hour of work bearable when you are exhausted and can barely make it thru? Yeah, I like those, too.

Nate started his 2nd grade year at a new school this year and according to him, his first day was the one of the best days of his life. That was a great relief to hear, even tho he had been talking it up all week.
The new school is in the neighborhood, so it is possible to walk there. I walked him to school in the morning and we found his class and his new teacher, Ms. Warren. She is a cute younger teacher, of which Nate has a knack of enchanting and wrapping around his finger. We shall see how she deals with the devil in the 7yo body. ;)
Yeah, I should really take the time to write about my trip on Thursday down to Dallas.
It would be a really cute story about how I got pulled over by a speeding trooper and didn't get a ticket, how I got to put some faces to some people I have been chatting with for a while, about some good food and drinks, and even about a waitress that decided that sitting down with us at lunch was a good time to talk about vomiting and how she is such a victim in life. But, I am just too damn lazy.
Take my word for it, it was fun and the story would have been really good.

Well, duh. I mean if you didn't think you were getting something positive from something, would you do it everyday?

Okay, the back thing really sucks. I don't know if it is a pinched nerve or just a strained muscle. The pain woke me up from sleeping this afternoon. I took some ibuprofin then, but it didn't do hardly anything.
So, I broke down and took something stronger and it seems to be helping, as long as I stay laying down on the heating pad. I seriously do not want to be taking pain pills, I just want this to go away.
So, I scammed the kiddo and myself into a free screening of the "Thunderbirds" movie starring Bill Paxton, Anthony Edwards and Ben Kingsley.
While there were no visible marionette's like in the original series, there was hella lot of puppet acting. So bad. The kiddo enjoyed it a bunch (started to say that it was better than Spiderman 2, but I think that was only cuz he was a smidge scared of Doc Ock at first - trust me, not a thing to be scared of in this movie except for the career slide of Oscar winning actor Ben Kingsley), so it ended up being worth the price of admission.
Oh, and juany, Lady Penelope is teh hawtz0r in the live action version, too, even if she does have a shit hairstyle near the end (think horrible beehive, if you must).
My back hurts.
I woke up from a nap this afternoon with a sharp pain between my shoulders. So, now I am resting on the heating pad, medicated with ibuprofen till I go to work tonight. Ugh.
That is what I had to do today. So very very nice. I had an obligation that was taken care of last night, freeing up today to not do anything I didn't want to do.

We went to see "Napoleon Dynamite" after work tonight. That movie had me laughing so hard and makes me know that I do not want to go into the time sucking town still in the 80's - Preston, Idaho.
For him to dance all alone in front of all of the students to help his friend out was the best. (I cannot imagine how many takes it took to get that done without cracking up.) And the whole scene with the time machine....hahaha.
Okay, you have to go see this movie to see what I am talking about.
