So, the little girl destined to be the first to break my son's heart is a cute little blonde girl in his class at school. Well, she laid some lips to cheek action on the boy earlier this week. Since one of his friends was watching, he was quickly informed that that was gross and that Lydia has the cooties. But, in true Nate style he just kept drinking the water at the water fountain and let it go.
Which leads me to another installment of Nate 'n Hobbes. (blah, blah, juany, blah, blah)
"I think that my favorite Gwyneth Paltrow movie is Se7en and only in the last 5 minutes."
(I think I read this online somewhere, because I am not funny enough to come up with this myself, but I must say I wholeheartedly agree.)
Oh, geez. First, the walls collapse on this poor guy. Then while the rescuers are trying to dig him and the other guy out of the trench with a backhoe, they decapitate him. How unbelieveably shitty.
I may be a bit biased, but my kiddo is (and has always been) too damn cute*. He has had girls wrapped around his pinky and now he has had one use those three little words on him last friday. He didn't freak out on her and tease her, which is good and polite. But, all this weekend he was all " I can't believe Lydia loves me." It is so cute, and no doubt just the beginning of a string of girl trouble for the boy.
*It was pointed out that Nate could be a real life version of Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes. (Thanks, Juany.)
The child loves basketball. He really likes soccer and has played the last 5 seasons, but I have never seen him get into it like I have seen him play basketball these last two weeks.
Today was another good game. He is on a team that has some really good players (boys that prolly have big brothers who play, too) and he is really good at backing them up. Today, he was the only boy to play 3 straight quarters all the way thru, and then finished up the game in the 4th. He woulda played the whole last quarter, but he told the coach he needed a "rest". And he didn't even complain about his "butt cheeks" hurting him after the game.
This is very good.
Who cares about stinky old 84˚ beach weather when you have 5" of snow outside your front door?
And when you have that much snow outside you get to do lots of fun things like build a snowman, make snowangels, or just have a good old fashioned snowball fight.
Now who's the jealous one? ;)
So the child played in his very first basketball game today. And, even tho I am biased, he did really good, even with a ball to the face. Heck, he even has the makings of a good jump shot. He was totally into it, not even paying attention when Nana Pam came to watch, and usually he is such a showoff when she is around.
We got him a new basketball and he has been practicing dribbling the ball all afternoon/evening. I think he is really going to like this sport alot if today is any indication.
