I took the kiddo to a birthday party at Celebration Station, which is pretty much like a Chuck E. Cheese's but with putt-putt golf and go-carts.
Anyway, while the kid was running around doing birthday party stuff, I answered the beckoning siren call of the game Dance Dance Revolution Max 2 - 7th mix. I know that it has been out for quite a while, but I just now gave in and tried it. Let's just say, that nothing draws a crowd like a big boobied chick jumping up and down. But besides that, it is evil and makes you feel like an uncoordinated ass for not jumping and moving your feet to the right tempo. And I just kept feeding it tokens, trying to prove it wrong. I never did. Evil, evil machine.
Today was the first day of 1st grade for the kiddo. He was terribly excited to go to school today - complete with lack of sleep the night before.
He had a great morning, all the way to getting on the bus, so I hope (and I am sure) that the rest of the day went great, too.
I didn't even stalker him there, either. Aren't you proud of me?
Well, since it is officially August 27th Down Under, I would like to wish Beau a very Happy Birthday!
Since it won't be your birthday here until tomorrow, you are being celebrated for twice as long this year. And, in honor of your Mars birthday, we will be dragging out the telescope tonight, again, to look at the Red Planet. Hopefully, you will get to be at the Sydney Observatory at 7:51pm (your time) with 1000 of your closest friends looking at the Red Planet, too.
Either way, I hope your day is wonderful. (^_^)
I had already done most of the school supply shopping, but had found that I was missing a few things and had gotten a couple of extra/wrong items. I went back to SuperT to exchange the things.
One of the things I was supposed to have gotten was a single package of 4 pink erasers. Instead, I had gotten 4 packages of single's. I go to take these 4 packages back and the girl takes the erasers and looks at my receipt. She says, "You were only charged for 3 of these.", and hands me back one of the packages. She says, "I can't give you a refund on this since you weren't charged for it. It was only $.69, so you might as well take it back.", and gives me back the eraser for which I didn't pay. That's right, instead of keeping an unpaid, inventory-able item, she gave it back to the non-paying customer*.
I wonder if this would work for a $269 tent. "I'm sorry, but you weren't charged or this. Go ahead and keep it, it's only $269". Just another reason I love Target. That should be their new motto - "If we don't charge you, it's yours anyway." heh
*I took the "free" eraser to Hell Day....I mean, Information Day at Nate's school, where they had a donation box for extra school supplies to help kids out and put it in there. Think of it as Target making another contribution to the local school district.
So, today was good. We had fun at the pool - Natey even got momma up on the diving board, twice. Well, it was all fun except for one part - when he was going to do a back flip off the diving board. See, he couldn't hear momma yelling at him to turn around and face backwards, not forwards towards the pool. I dunno why he did it that way today - he has never got them confuzzled like that before.
Anyway, he proceeds to jump off of the diving board, facing out, and tried to do a back flip away from the board. Doesn't quite make it over. In fact, it was a square-on back flop in the pool. Enough to bring tears to the eyes and a red to the back that you would have thought he was sunburned - which he wasn't. Luckily, a few deep breaths and a promise from momma that she would do a twist off the board got him distracted enough to let it go. He got over it and ended up swimming across the length of the deep end with out stopping.
I swear, you would not recognize this as the same kid who wouldn't jump off the side of the pool into Daddy's arms - even with his earplugs in and wearing his lifejacket. Make me all proud and stuff. And surprise, surprise, I think this was the first time this year I went out to the pool and didn't get sunburned. Yay!
Ice cream social was fun. We saw a kid that had been on his last soccer team before this one. I am going to compare this pack with the school chartered one tomorrow morning and decide which one to join after that. I am going to call that other mom and we are going to get our kiddo's in the same one, so that they will know someone when they start.
We started back on school bedtime routine's tonight, with only a bit of resistance. He was getting tired while reading, so, maybe it won't be so bad. Tomorrow is going to be hectic what with Information Day in the morning and first soccer practice of the season tomorrow evening. But, at least it's better than just sitting around doing nothing.
That's what weekends are for, right?
After being in the house all day yesterday, we will definitely make up for it today.
Today, we are going to the pool for a while before we head over to an ice cream social to get more information about Tiger Cubs for kiddo. After that, we have to drop of books at the library and go to Target to finish up getting his school supplies to take to Information Day tomorrow.
Yep, it's starting to get busy around here.
So, I guess I lucked out and only one of my nephews came to spend the night last night with the kiddo. They kept each other amused playing games and watching videos until they crashed around 11:pm - then the house was very quiet. Almost too quiet, and I ended up staying up till 2am (those Melrose Place reruns are just mesmerizing - heh).
The brother came over to eat pizza, shoot the shit and collect the child around 2-3ish and then I crashed for a nap around 5, because the kids had gotten up before 8am and woke the momma up. When I woke up around 7pm, the kiddo was passed out on the couch, and I am betting he is out for the night. Again, another quiet night.
I bet I won't be up as late tonight, as Dynasty reruns just aren't as spellbinding as MP. :)
I am not all that surprised by Sharon's light sentence, because I didn't think that she was really all that involved in the big scam. However the one thing that does interest me is this sentence from an article on NewsOK (that one required reg.):
"Caywood admitted she falsified records as part of the scheme "as instructed by my supervisors."
Hmmm.....pretty short list there. Let's see now, who would be able to fire the Office Manager? The Administrator? Maybe? Could be.
I am pretty sure that hell has just frozen over.
My brother, who will never ever be confused with a "Metrosexual", has just admitted to me that he likes "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy". Now, if you knew my brother, you would think there wouldn't be a chance in hell that he would watch this show, let alone like it, especially since it is a trendy show that "everyone" is watching and talking about.
So, be careful walking out there today, because your feet might slip on the ice.
Ya know, I was just wondering what I could waste $25 on today.
The cat has become facinated by the fax machine. Even though I have the ringer turned off, as soon as he hears the paper start to move and the fans whir, he is right there, paws on the table, to watch. He has even taken to just staying the office and laying down in front of the fax stand. It's funny.
Course, it still isn't as funny as him running to watch you flush the toilet and putting his paws on the seat so he can see what is going down. And if he doesn't make it there in time, he whines/meows (same thing, you know that) at you until you flush it again so he can watch it.
What a silly cat.
I swear, Spotlife has made it far far too easy to send stupid useless "you suck" videos half way around the world.
And, because of that, there are now lots of dorky videos being sent in rapid succession at an alarming rate.
Don't worry, it is almost over - especially after talking to you and knowing everything is going even better than expected.
Didja find the cards, yet? See, I told you - "No gotta go cards." hehe
The pie is gooooood.
Kiddo is Motrin'd up and doing much better. Finally ate some soup, with lots of bread on the side (and in the soup - just like daddy).
Going to bed early and hopefully getting back on a damn schedule tomorrow.
So, yeah....watched the live version of the John Denver song today. Did you know it IS possible to love and hate someone at the same time? ;)
And no, I could never hate anyone enough to wish them a middle seat on a 14 hour flight.
Also, a real friend is one that has the pie there when you get home. Thanks, Stinky.
there isn't enought time for there to be all the time in the world.
Sometimes it is really really fun and funny to watch someone yell all night.
Happy Birthday, Stinky.
What? It's not like I made you sit thru the whole shitty movie. There's your birthday present, beaatch.
