The creepy eugenemirman.com has got some new songs that are just plain wrong - like "Son of a Preacher Man". And I really liked that song, too.
The devastating volcano in the Congo has killed an untold number of people, including the greedy and stupid, and driven thousands from their homes. So, of course, what could be a more appropriate name for a newborn than Volcano?
The mother gave birth while fleeing the volcano and says, "So what other name could I have given him?". Well, for starters, you could have called him, oh, I don't know, how about ANYTHING BESIDES VOLCANO?
Why would you name your kid after something that had you so petrified for your life that you were fleeing your home for safety? And now, if he does have health problems related to this, I am sure that he will appreciate being named after something that is causing him distress. Sheesh.
Thanks to the guys at Technoerotica for the list of links to opt-out of alot of the ad servers pop-up/under windows. It doesn't kill them all, and some do have time limits set to expire the opt-out, but it sure does help cut down the glut that I have been getting lately.
I found out that my Secret Santa Tammy DOES have a website.
Thanks again, Tammy - it was really cool to watch my DVD of Fast Times after watching the E! True Hollywood Story about it. I must have watched that movie, like, 37 times in high school - I swear, I knew all of the lines, and can still repeat half of it. That movie rocked.
....I DO think Tom Cruise is gay - but that's just me (and possibly a few other thousands of people).
So Talk magazine has stopped publication. That sucks. That makes two magazines (including Mode magazine), that I actually subscribed to, to shut down in less than 6 months. Mode just transferred my subscription over to Woman's Day magazine - uh, no, no thank you - if I had wanted that one, I would have subscribed to it in the first place. I have yet to see what Talk will do - it doesn't even mention the closure on their site - but I don't know what magazine out there is comparable really.
I can't think of anything else I would want to subscribe to right now - I get all of my news from the net, entertainment or otherwise, so all of the print seems a bit dated when I get it in the mail anyway.
Ahhh, the price of being an information junkie.
< snip most of this post except for the teacher part >
...it looks like it was a bit difficult to get torchbearers here in Oklahoma if they were letting local news anchors and a guy with depression who has tried to commit suicide several (???) times carry it. (And this guy is a teacher, no less. I mean, what are they trying to do here, cheer him up??) (Yeah, yeah, I know - bite me.)
< /snipping of most of this post >
I just think that was a really bizarre thing - but that's just me.
A few quick notes to catch up on a couple of things:
Thank you to my Secret Santa, Tammy, who sent me the very cool DVD of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" for Christmas.
I was Secret Santa to Don, who I hope got his present in time. (Amazon said it would take 3 weeks to notify him of his gift and I only got his name 2 weeks before Christmas - hopefully, it didn't take that long).
And, Scott, I must say I was truely "blessed" that Linda Cavanaugh was the one to introduce my interview - she is an amazingly......annoying person. Ha!
I can't believe it has been over 3 weeks already - man, time sure flies when you're wishing the holidays would be over.
Please leave all holiday baggage at the door.
I am so glad all of that is over.
