Speaking of robot friends

Since A.I. is coming out this weekend, now would be a good time to talk about a little bit of a.i. you can have for your very own - or well, share with everyone else who is on AIM.

If you use AOL Instant Messenger then you can have your own chat session with an interactive program that ActiveBuddy calls "Interactive Agents". (Surely it will end up porting to other platforms, since this will likely be a marketing depts. dream). Anyway, if you add "SmarterChild" to your buddy list and send it a "Hello" IM and it will reply and then start interacting with you. It remembers you, your zodiac sign, city you are in, etc. the next time you chat.

It is pretty fun to get into some bizarre conversations with it, and it is a smart ass, too. What's not to love? (link from meFi)

For all you conspiracy theorists out there

In Tomb Raider, the bad guys were this secret society of people called the 'Illuminati' who wanted to control time and control the world. Well, it turns out there might actually be an 'Illuminati' society after all.

Robert Gillette has spent more than 35 years studying this group, who he thinks wants to just take over the world - no mention of controlling time. He has some pretty interesting ideas and lots of links to other sites who have different opinions than him. I haven't decided what I think yet (I have yet to get through all of this), but since I do think that there are alot of secret handshake groups out there, none of this would really surprise me.

Angelina Jolie IS Lara Croft

Okay, for being the freak that she is, ie., all of the stories about Billy Bob and blood, hiring a hitman to kill her, and all of the freaky brother stuff, she really did become Lara Croft, down to the kick ass (heh, literally) bungee cord ass-kicking. Granted the plot was a bit weak, but, it was based on a video game which, usually, really aren't very plot driven themselves.

But, come on, I mean, if you are not going to close your damn coat when walking across the frozen tundra, then you are going to have some nipples going on. I mean, like 2" ones. But I digress.

She's signed on to do two more of these, hopefully they will improve the stories as they go along - and not come up with a "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Dumb" fiasco.

Having a pillow fight in our panties

So the Tuesday Night Girls Club had a slumber party last Friday night. Yes, that's right, a slumber party. I know that it sounds "gay" (as someone called it when I told him about it) but if staying up all night, eating junk food, watching old 80's movies, like, Sixteen Candles (our member from England had never seen this classic) and The Breakfast Club, and just shooting the shit about absolutely nothing all night is being "gay" then I am all for it - just as long as I don't have to give up the whole hetero sex thing, that is. hehehe

Anyway, we had so much fun terrorizing the grocery store and getting so much junk food in the basket that it would have made any 10yo boy - or make that a 4th grade boy - puke. There is nothing like nachos, hot dogs and cupcakes to make any dinner great. It was so much fun - even the pancakes in the morning were good.

Oh, oh, oh, we also finally got to see the commercial that Kelli and I made a couple of weeks ago. It is so unbelieveably cheesy and will run so much that it will annoy many, many people in the Oklahoma City area - but it will make me laugh, and laugh, and laugh. I mean, come on, if you can't do stupid cheesy stuff and not give a shit about it and just have fun, then what good is it being a geek? I have decided to just have fun and be stupid and have a good time, instead of being a boring, pain in the ass, who just bitches all the time. Try it, it works - just ask "grumpy hag-ass while still on vacation" if it does.

Have I mentioned, lately, I have some really excellent friends?

The leader of the pack

I can't figure it out - do I just radiate this whole "I am a mom - I am responsible - I have all the answers - and I will pick up the check" kind of aura around me? Just curious, because last night at the Tuesday Night Girls Club the waiter would only ask me questions for the whole table, ie. "is everyone okay?" "does anyone want dessert?", etc., and then brought me the check. No biggie for any of those things, just got to be kind of a noticeable joke around the table.

Or maybe it was just the boobies.

Side note

McVeigh's lawyer's are saying that we killed Jennifer McVeigh's older brother, a son, etc - and that it is our fault and we made killing a part of the healing process- well, actually, Tim is the one who decided to not appeal any longer, to not fight the decision of the punishment to the crime that he freely admitted to committing. So, at what point are we supposed to feel sorry for fulfilling what is required under the law? He broke the law and was punished accordingly - we are not at fault - he became the one at fault on April 19th, 1995.

Gah, I hate lawyers.

“The court order to execute inmate Timothy James McVeigh has been fulfilled.”

There is now another time that some people will commemorate in connection with the Oklahoma City bombing. At 7:14am cst McVeigh was executed by lethal injection at the Federal Penitentiary in Terre Haute, IN - the first execution there since the 1960's.

Once again he gave no satisfaction to the survivors by not apologizing and not giving a last statement just before he died - only giving a written statement consisting of the poem "Invictus" - which in my opinion, just shows more arrogance and defiance on his part. I wonder if he feels...make that felt...he will be seen as a martyr by not apologizing and by taking full responsibility for this? I am sure there will be people who will hold him in that regard, but I think that there are a majority of people that think that he is now suffering in hell. Personally, I think he should have been made to suffer alone, 23 hours a day, in his 9'X12' concrete room for the rest of his life, slowly going even more crazed as time went on and not been allowed to take the easy way out by going to sleep for the rest of his life.

I do not think this will bring closure to some of the victims since there will always be holidays, etc that their loved ones will not be present at, but maybe they will feel that this chapter is closed and the "eye for an eye" has been fulfilled and they can move forward. But here in Oklahoma City, so many people do not think that he acted alone, and will continue to look for "John Doe #2" that it will never be closed. I do not think that it should ever be forgotten, but I don't think it should always be in the forefront of everyone's mind.

This part is over and hopefully we can stop being the focus of the Nation's eyes, as we have been ever since 9:02am April 19th, 1995.

That was really great...I think

With the in-laws coming in, we all got to have a nice dinner at Friday's and then they watched the boy so we were able to go out with Ray and catch the really great movie, Memento, which I still don't think I got all of. It was so effective in telling the story backwards that you felt almost as confused as the leading character at the end (beginning?). I love movies that make you think and can be discussed over and over again afterwards.

And then today I got to deal with the hell that is CompUSA, not once but twice - and this is after getting pissed off at them last night when they closed 2 hours early for inventory - which wouldn't be any big deal, except for the fact that they are the ONLY place to buy anything Apple related, locally. If Apple would open one of their stores in Dallas, driving 3 1/2 hours wouldn't seem like such a bad trade-off.

Shit, I hate CompUSA.

more crap

Me also thinks that having to take two cars to the shop, not getting to do what I wanted tonight, and a sunburn didn't really help the mood.

Irritated. Cranky.

*hack**cough**clearing throat*

Methinks that the red mud dust from riding bikes with Ray and Tammee didn't do much to help the lawn-mowing induced allergy attack. I am still trying to stop the crap.

Sick. Cranky.
