M.Y.O.B.One thing I really don't

M.Y.O.B.

One thing I really don't like is when someone decides to dispense advice on a subject that they don't have all of the facts. When people do that, they have decided that person they are giving advice to is stupid. Most people are not. I, for one, am a very smart person. I may do stupid things that I regret later, but that does not make me stupid.
I usually have well thought out reasons for doing things that I do, and don't necessarily make all of them known. It is not necessary because most of the time it is not anyone else's business. And that's what makes me mad, when someone makes it their business, not matter how well-intentioned.
Everything may not be good and happy right now, and I am trying to work some things out, that are very personal and hurt, that may take a while. While I appreciate the thoughts, I don't need protecting. I also don't need anyone doing things on my behalf (if that's what forming your own opinions and acting on them is for), like making people feel like shit, thinking that helps in some way. It doesn't. In fact, things like that usually make things worse.
Gossip and innuendo are hurting people right now and it is not fair to anyone. It makes people resentful and do things they feel forced to do, which isn't fair, nor the right way to make decisions. And it wouldn't be necessary if people would just mind their own business.

May I take your order?So

May I take your order?

So I go thru the drive-thru at Chick-Fil-A and order a "Chicken Strip Salad", which some people might think is a light, calorie counting kind of meal. I guess the guy taking my order didn't think so, because after I ordered, he tried to up-sell with "would you like a piece of pie or a brownie with that?". Uhhhhh, no.

Phone solicitationsFunniest thing happened at

Phone solicitations

Funniest thing happened at the office today. A man called in and asked to speak to my partner:

man: "May I speak to David K.?"

me: "He's not in today. May I take a message?"

man: "No, I will call back tomorrow."

At this point I have figured out by the background sounds and his not wanting to leave a message that this is a unsolicited solictitation. So I decided to push a little.

me: "May I ask who is calling?"

man: (with a bit of a nervous chuckle) "Jack F."

me: "And who are you with?" (expecting the hang up any second)

man: "Ma'am, I ....." (voice trailing off)

me: "If this is a solicitation..." (before I can finish my sentence)

man: "I resent you not letting me hang up." (to which I responded)

me: "Sir, you are free to hang...."
and before I could finish my thought, he did the "solicitor shuffle", hung up on me and ran away.

That is the first time I have ever had a salesman say they resented me. How about I resent the fact that I didn't ask you to call in the first place? And I didn't wasn't even rude to him and hang up in the first place (he caught me in a good mood), instead, I was simply trying to get information for my partner to say, "Hey, this Jack F. guy called from _____ Co. and he said he would call you back." I don't think that was too much to ask from him. But I guess he did.
Ya' know, I doubt he will call back which guarantees he won't get a sale, but he might, and I stress might, have gotten one if he had just simply stated where he who he was with, instead, he has become the joke of the day. I love sales calls.

www.lazy.com

So, last night, I signed up for etour.com because I am becoming the laziest web-surfer I know. Anyway, you note your interests and it brings the sites to you.
It reminds me of Random.com except it has a better interface and a way to advance to the next site, which, at Random.com you have to click back to the home page and then select anther site.
But, only one problem. Either I have limited interests or I am a damn good surfer, because out of the first 20 pages they displayed, I had 13 of them bookmarked.
I gotta get a new hobby.

Mommy post ahead Today, my

Mommy post ahead

Today, my kid was watching Batman and said "Look, mom, it's Batman. He's got big muscles (his euphemism for being able to do anything)". He then took a bite of his cereal, "Yucky Charms" (that just cracks me up) and says, "That's my dad. That's my dad, he's got big muscles."
I just think it is cute as hell that my kiddo think his dad is Batman and can do anything. That's great.
'Course he also thought a good-looking model in an ad the other day was me - and I just didn't have the heart to correct him....hehehehe.

Good day todayThis has been

Good day today

This has been a great day today. Most of the stress of the last few weeks has just about been settled and my husband went off on a trip overseas that he has wanted to take for quite some time. By himself. And I am totally cool with that.
This trip will make him very happy, and by following that logic, a happy husband, makes a happy wife. Follow? People shouldn't get pissy that I didn't go, they should be happy that he has this opportunity. I mean, who wouldn't like to just hop on a plane and go somewhere really cool just because they want to, before starting a new job where they won't have any time off for a while?
I repeat, I am totally cool with this - and besides I had enough "quality time" and long ass plane rides last year when I went to Australia with him.
Been with him 8 years - don't need to be with him everyday, get it? And he will bring me great make-up presents for not taking me along, so who can complain about that?

Surprise, surprise

I get a kick out of inside jokes, whether in movies or computer programs. So I was very happy to find a site devoted to exposing the "easter eggs" in everything from movies to books, and even art.

So many thoughts....There have been

So many thoughts....

There have been so many things on my mind, but I can't say everything, so here are the "Cliff Notes"™ version:

1. Jeans?
2. Everyone going?
3. Buying big ticket item: good idea/bad timing? shitty idea/for wrong reasons?
4. Sometimes just showing up is the nicest thing you can do for someone.
5. Are you listening to listen or listening to talk?
6. Canasta is addictive.
7. Can Monday at 5:pm get here, PLEASE?? My hair is bugging the living shit out of me. I cannot wait to chop it off.

That's it I think, and knowing me, that would have been like 5 pages worth, so just think of all of the clicking I saved you. Ain't I a saint?

Baby DropTo me, this seems

Baby Drop

To me, this seems like a very good and humane idea. With many states considering similiar legislation, hopefully we will start seeing a drop in the many "baby found in bathroom trashcan at the prom"/"baby in the dumpster" stories that seemed to be in the news recently.
