From the mind/mouth of my 7yo as he is getting ready to take me to lunch at the Olive Garden (he is in his room, picking up some clothes he left on the floor the last 2 days and putting them in his half full hamper):
"Mom, you have lots of cleaning to do, but, since it is Mother's Day, you can take the day off." Gee, thanks, dork.
I had a great day. After a wee bit of prodding to remind the child that he might have something for me, I received two of the best cards and a flower in a pot that had been hand painted by him in school just for me. He told me that he didn't know what I liked, so he painted dinosaurs on there for me - a T-rex, a pointy back one, and a long neck one, with one flower amongst them. It was very sweet and I think the flower is a violet, but I am not sure. I really suck at the whole flower thing.
No matter what, nothing beats being called an "Awesome Mom" and getting a great big hug at the end of the day.
