At the movies

I took the child to see "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" yesterday. I took him right after school to a 4pm matinee and we were the first ones there. Nate picked out seats in the middle of the front row of the second section to put his feet on the rail. Which of course means that an older couple would pick seats one seat away from Nathan, out an almost entirely empty theatre. Oh well - they get what they deserve sitting next to a 6yo in a 3 1/2 movie.
But, Nate was reasonably well-behaved for such a long movie - enough so that the older woman complimented me at the end of the movie for having such a good kid. He was scared in some parts (the spider), bored in some parts (we're walking and we're walking) and excited thru a bunch of it (Fight! Fight!).
Me? I thought it was a really good movie - my Rudy love continues to grow. If he doesn't get an Oscar nom, I will be disappointed. But..but..I saw a few holes in the movie. The biggest one being the eagles. I'm just saying...why didn't they just fly Frodo and Sam to the pit, let them throw it in and fly them back? Woulda taken, what..3 days? And just think how many lives would have been saved? Yeah...I know...sacrilege. Not that it stopped me from sniveling thru most of it like a big sissy girl.
