Olympic gymnasticsThis has been my

Olympic gymnastics

This has been my favorite sport ever since I can remember, with one of my earliest memories being Nadia Comenechi getting the first perfect 10.0. And I also think it is pretty cool to have her living so close to me now in Norman with her husband Men's Gymnastic's Olympic medalist Bart Conner (even if it is a sham marriage, but that is a whole other topic) and having the most decorated women's gymnast, Shannon Miller, from here also.

So of course, I am glued to my television to watch this Olympic's competition - even knowing the results 17 hours before they air. And being the armchair coach that I am, I have got to say that these are some of the sloppiest performances you can imagine from the world's finest athlete's. It is unbelieveable. And yes, I know that there has been equipment problems, from the vault being too low and the floor being too hard, but come on. How many people fell off the beam and from the parallel bars that didn't have any problems? It just seems quite unreal.

But, on the other hand, I am soooo grateful that the girls cannot hear the announcers. Could they be any shittier? I sincerely do not believe it could be possible, unless they just flat out started talking about their weight. They have made so many snarky remarks that it is impossible for me to list them all, but suffice it to say, these girls have worked hard to get where they are. Being the hypocrite that I am, I justify my snarkiness by saying these events are supposed to be free entertainment for me, whereas the announcers are getting paid to narrate the events as they happen, or I guess as they happened yesterday as it really is, and not to just cut eveything down.

Oh well, the first ever trampoline Olympic competitions start tomorrow, so I am sure I can find something else to get giddy about.

I am so easily amused.
