On the flip sideOn the

On the flip side

On the other hand, last night's Daily Show with John Stewart on Comedy Central was live and incorporated soundbites from the speeches from Gore and Bush from earlier in the evening along with some biting but dead on commentary. For example:

1. Stewart (referring to the Supreme Court decision and Justice Clarence Thomas specifically): "The Election has been decided with the final tally being 5 to 4 with George Bush carrying 100% of the African American vote, which is unusual since that is generally a Democratic stronghold.
2. Stewart (referring to the length of this election): So, 855 hours and 2 minutes into this election night, we can call Florida and its electoral votes for George Bush.
And my favorite, 3. Bush (from his victory speech): "And I would like to ask the American people to come together and pray...." to which Stewart interrupts and says, "We are waaaaaaaaayyy ahead of you on that one."

Oh well, I am glad it is over, even if it didn't go the way I wanted. However, I can take comfort in the fact that all of the three Presidents that have won the electoral college and not the popular vote have all been one-termers. I just hope that trend continues.
