Took the kiddo to see Star Wars yesterday. Besides feeling like I had been there for 5 hours, it wasn't horrible - but it wasn't fantastic. I mean, I am not a 30yo white guy, so maybe I just don't "get it", but I am pretty sure that wasn't it. It was just okay.
Visually it was amazing. Lucas can definitely do that quite well (save for a few "bit obvious" moments), but as for the story and the directing - eh, not so much.
Natey did his usual squirming, stretching and looking bored routine for the whole time and afterwards proclaiming it to be a great movie "that he had never seen before today", but I know he was more into Spiderman when we saw it a couple of weeks ago. I think Spiderman was just more fun. It had better obvious one-liners than the lame ones from C-3PO in Star Wars that had me groaning out loud they were so bad.
The least I can say that it was better than "The Phantom Menace".
